Sanctity

This piece is inspired by the cut scene from GODZILLA VS. BIOLLANTE, where after their first encounter, some of Biollante's spores scatter around the lake, causing thousands of roses of various colors to bloom. Ironic that it seemed as peaceful and beautiful as it did, as this was a battleground literally minutes before. Even Godzilla seems to be taken aback by this sight, and calmly leaves, as if trying not to disturb the moment.

So far, this has to be one of my favorite pieces I've ever done. I was at G-Fest last year when I began inking this. I decided to take the route of by sticking to a traditional-media piece (I would use markers to color it). But as I started inking, I then had the idea of just coloring in the roses. But by the time I was almost done, I couldn't bring myself to do so. I felt the color can come from imagination rather than the physical use of pens and markers.

This will be a G-Fest 2014 print, making this my first black-and-white print. And it so happens that Koichi Kawakita, the SPFX director for GODZILLA VS BIOLLANTE (and the rest of the Heisei series, including the first two REBIRTH OF MOTHRA movies) will be one of the guests this year.
